The IDS Research Process

Stage 1:  Discussion with Client

The first stage is designed to ensure that IDS Market Research can get a thorough understanding of the issue that the client wishes to investigate.  Prior to the meeting, the client is asked to prepare background information on the issue to be researched.  By thoroughly understanding the background, IDS can provide a tailored research solution to the issue. 

As part of this stage the client is asked to make a ‘guesstimate’ of what she or he believes will be the outcome of the research.  There are two reasons for doing this.  The first reason is to gain a better understanding of what the client’s expectations are of the research.  The second reason is to provide a guesstimate gap to the client at the end of the research.  This will help the client in understanding the impact of the research findings on the issue.
